On-The-Day Essentials & Must-Haves

You've planned every detail for months. The dress is hanging up, the flowers are ordered, the cake is booked. But when it comes to the actual day itself, there are a handful of essentials that even the most organised couples overlook. As someone who has coordinated more wedding days than I can count, here's my go-to list of on-the-day must-haves.

The Emergency Kit — Your New Best Friend

I bring one of these to every single wedding I coordinate, and it has saved the day more times than I can tell you. Here's what should be in yours:

- Clear nail varnish (for stocking runs)

- Safety pins in multiple sizes

- Double-sided fashion tape

- Stain remover pen

- Paracetamol and ibuprofen

- Blister plasters

- A small sewing kit

- Breath mints

- Touch-up makeup — lipstick, powder, mascara

- Bobby pins and hair grips

- Deodorant and perfume

- Tissues (you will cry — the good kind!)

- Phone charger and portable battery pack

- Cash for tips

For the Morning

Make sure everyone in the bridal party knows the timeline. Who is getting hair and makeup done and in what order? When does the photographer arrive? When are the flowers being delivered? Have a printed copy of the schedule — not just on your phone.

At the Ceremony

Have someone designated to handle any last-minute logistics — seating late guests, liaising with the celebrant, holding the rings. If you have a coordinator, this is all taken care of. If you don't, assign a reliable friend or family member to each key role.

At the Reception

Confirm your timeline with your venue coordinator and catering team early in the day. Know when speeches are happening, when the cake is being cut, when the band or DJ is starting. A clear timeline shared with everyone means the day flows naturally without you having to think about a thing.

The Most Important Thing

Eat breakfast. Drink water. Take a breath. The day will go fast — faster than you can imagine. So be present, soak it all in, and trust that everything is in hand.
